We are looking for a General Manager to join our partner’s Bulgaria operations!

Our partner operates in the maritime agency and port services sector, delivering vessel clearance, port coordination, and integrated maritime solutions to international shipowners and charterers across the region.

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Bulgaria office, leading local operations, ensuring high-quality client service, maintaining regulatory compliance, and representing the company in all commercial and operational matters within the country. You will work closely with headquarters, local authorities, and international stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Bulgaria office with a hands-on leadership approach

• Supervise and support a small local team across operations, documentation, and customer service

• Ensure smooth coordination with headquarters and other branches

• Oversee all port agency services including vessel clearance, documentation, and communication with port authorities

• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to principals (shipowners and charterers)

• Act as the main point of contact for local and international clients

• Build and maintain strong relationships with ship agents, port officials, and logistics partners

• Ensure high customer satisfaction through reliable and responsive service

• Manage the local office budget and expenses in line with company policies

• Prepare financial and operational reports for headquarters

• Ensure accurate invoicing and follow-up on payments

• Ensure agency operations comply with Bulgarian maritime and port regulations

• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company and legal standards

• Identify opportunities to grow the agency business in the Bulgarian market

• Represent the company at industry meetings and local events when necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field

• Minimum 5 years of experience in maritime agency or port operations

• Good understanding of local port procedures and maritime regulations

• Experience working within a small team structure is an advantage

• Fluent in English

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and take initiative
